A self-taught artist, Vassil discovered sculpture by accident one fine day in 1991 while cutting some stone. In 1995, he changed direction to clay modelling in order to focus on expressivity and emotion. He then spent time studying animal movement, and in 1999, he exhibited his first bronze sculptures. He decided to concentrate on animal art at this moment; it gave him the rare impression to be able to achieve total freedom. Wild animals fascinate him, especially the great, well-known mammals, but he also loves what he calls « sociable animals », less noble but with whom he has a closer feeling. His aim is simple: to make them live and express what they feel through their body language. Animals are so similar to humankind!
Vassil has gained artistic recognition in Europe, and his work is shown in a dozen galleries and in specialised exhibitions.
